Scions of Sinai ‘Atlantikas’ Pinotage

Floral and red currents with some sour cherry fragrance and some plums. Atlantikas was born after an otherwise healthy and well situated old bushvine vineyard came under the crosshairs to be pulled out. This is a 1976 dryland farmed vineyard situated in sand soils (of decomposed granite and silica) in the Lower Helderberg sub-region of Stellenbosch.

Scions of Sinai ‘Féniks’ Pinotage

Smaller berries again, but with great acidity and earlier flavour concentrations with a lovely balance and elegance which bodes well for quality. The Féniks Pinotage vineyard is a single demarcated vineyard in
Southern Stellenbosch, Lower Hedlerberg area close to Firgrove. On the front foot of the Granite Sinai Hill, nearby False Bay shore at 3.5km away. Dry farmed Bushvines, planted in 1976 by Koos & Pieter Bredell
on these sandy silica rich granite well drained soils. A rare combination for Pinotage which usually is planted more on clay mountain slopes or more fertile soils. Also rare being in a Maritime macro climate.

Six Dogs Pinotage

Six Dogs Pinotage Stained Gin is the love child of Six Dogs Gin and our neighbour’s highly prized block of Pinotage grapes in the De Wet Valley. Our gin is distilled in small batches through generous quantities of juniper and fresh citrus. It is then placed in tanks together with handpicked Pinotage grapes to allow the gin to extract the deep red essence of this truly South African cultivar. The result? Six Dogs Pinotage Stained Gin. An alchemy between neighbours, friends, nature and of course, six faithful dogs.

Spioenkop Pinotage

From Elgin fruit. Matured for 11 months in French oak, 80% new. Violets and herbs before red and black cherry, cinnamon and clove. Massively dense on the palate but not at all short of freshness, the tannins firm and grippy in the best sense. A forceful wine but equally wonderfully balanced, this has an effortlessness about it.
